Here’s How to Get Clear Skin in 15 Minutes or Less

get clear skin in minutes
For all of summer’s greats, including but not limited to fresh berries and long soleil-filled weekend getaways, the season has a funny way of taking an unwanted toll on skin. And while protection from the sun’s harsh rays is key, the dehydration, accumulated sweat, and daily layering of SPF can often lead to seriously blocked pores.
Fortunately, a slew of new over-the-counter products are sweeping the nation, and unlike retinol and other prescription acne treatments, this solution doesn’t make skin sensitive to the sun and still provides all the same bacteria-fighting benefits of its hardworking counterparts.

Want to reverse seasonal woes by targeting and shrinking oil glands and reducing inflammation? Try Neutrogena’s new two-minute, portable treatment zero-recovery-time apparatus in the comfort of your own home. “Plus,” adds Henry, “the devices also emit a slight amount of heat that when coupled with the light helps to diminish pore size.”

Subscribe to Facebook Posts to Get Notifications Without Commenting

Get Notifications Without Commenting
I really like using groups on Facebook. I’m in a ton of different writing groups where writers swap advice, as well as a few beer groups where people swap, well, beer. One thing that has become painfully obvious across both groups: a lot of people don’t fully understand how Facebook works. There are a lot of odd offenses that pop up, but the one that tends to bother me the most is when people respond to posts with just the word “Following.”

People write “Following” as a comment on posts presumably because they want to keep up with them. This happens most often on posts where someone has asked a question that those people would also like the answer to. Once you comment, you’re default subscribed to the thread, so you’ll get a notification each time someone comments.
It seems like an ok solution, but the thing is, you also get a notification each time some other person decides to write “Following.” on the post as does every other person that’s commented. It’s annoying, and Facebook actually has a feature that lets you do this without notification spamming everyone in the conversation.
If you see a post, be it on a friend’s wall or in a group, you’d like to keep track of you can subscribe to get notifications by literally just turning on notifications for the post. Here’s how to do it:
  1. Go to the post in question, and then click the tiny arrow at the top right of it.
  2. Select “Turn on notifications for this post” from the drop-down menu
Yo might like:

That’s it. When you do that you’ll get a notification whenever anyone comments on the post.

The feature also works great in the reverse. I tend to run into issues whenever I comment on someone’s new baby picture or engagement announcement. When you comment, you get everyone else’s “Congrats!” message sent your way as well. You can stop it by going to that same drop down menu and selecting “Turn off notifications for this post.” Your friend still gets your congratulatory message, but you don’t have to read the hundreds of others that pour in after yours.

How to Turn Off Auto-Playing Sound for Videos On Facebook

Videos on Facebook are about to get a whole lot louder. Thanks to the Facebook app’s upcoming update, videos will start playing sound automatically as you scroll through your feed. Here’s how to disable it.

turn off auto playing
Previously, you could only hear video sound if you tapped on the video in your Facebook News Feed. Now, as long as your device isn’t on silent mode, sound will fade in and out as you scroll through all of those food videos. It might be a welcome addition to some, but for the rest of us, it’s a new annoyance to deal with if you don’t already have video auto-play disabled.

Disable Those Annoying Taskbar Pop-Up Suggestions In Windows 10

disable annoying taskbar pop up suggestions in win 10
Microsoft really wants you to use the Edge browser on your Windows 10 laptop. If you don’t, you’ll get task-bar pop-ups advertising for it. It’s annoying. Here’s how to turn them off.
Every time I open Chrome, Windows tells me I’ll get better battery life if I use Edge instead. Thanks, but no thanks. I don’t care, I want to use Chrome. Stop pestering me Windows. If you feel the same way, here’s the fix:

How to recover corrupted files / lost files from corrupt or accidentally formatted USB devices.

The issue of files getting lost or corrupted is a hot topic on many online forums. At some point or the other, you might have lost a file to accidental deletion, corruption or circumstances you can’t explain. I myself recall those dark days when i would save my favorite songs on my 256 MB MP3 player (256 MB of then felt like the 100 GB of now) and then for reasons unknown, they would just stop playing and I would have to format my beloved MP3 player then start the music hunt from scratch; tragic! If you have been through a similar or worse experience, then i shall – in this tutorial – explain how to recover corrupted files or lost files so you can say goodbye to such bitter occurrences.
What is a corrupted file?
A corrupted file is a computer file that has become unreadable, unusable, maliciously altered or inoperable to your computer (be it a laptop / desktop PC, mobile device etc). In other words, your computer either can’t recognize such a file and thus, tags it as void or is running a malicious file instead of the original.
What could cause a file to get corrupt?
Sincerely, there are quite a number of reason why files get corrupted. Common reasons are:

  • Bug in the Software that created the file: The software which created the file in question might have experienced a run time error while saving or creating the file.
  • Virus or Malware: Malware or virus might corrupt certain programs or damage the file system itself. For this reason, new or existing files might experience a modification which would leave them corrupted.
  • Improper unmounting: This usually occurs when an external storage device (SD Card, USB stick, External Hard Disk etc) is suddenly disconnected from your computer while actively in use or without using the safely remove or eject option.
  • Error occurring during reading, storage, writing, transmission or processing of files: Interruption of data transmission ( like a poor wireless connection or environmental conditions like rain) and hardware / software failure are also common causes of corrupted files.
  • Power outages or other power-related problems.
  • Hardware problems or failures i.e hard drive failures, bad sectors, bad RAM, and the likes.
  • Crash dumps or poor programming which could result in a hard restart or incorrectly saved data.
How do I know when a file is corrupted ?
File corruption could either be of the detected or undetected type. The detected types are the ones you would usually notice due to error messages while the undetected types are silent (could be dangerous) alterations which still leave the file undamaged. There are some general indicators of a corrupted file:
  • If you try to run or open the file using a program which should be able to read it but can’t or you get an error message then the file is likely corrupted.
  • If you try to delete the file and your computer pops up a ‘…could not recognize…’ error message and isn’t able to delete the file then the file is likely corrupted.
  • An altered checksum can also be used to identify a corrupt file.
My files just vanished without me deleting them, why?
It is possible they have been accidentally deleted or hidden from you either by a malware or by a user of the computer.
Why do my files keep getting corrupt whenever I try to move them?
This mostly points to an already corrupt or damaged storage device (SD card, USB stick, HDD etc). It is important you repair the storage device ( See how-to-fix-repair-corrupt-memory-card-sd-card-or-usb-drive/ ) which you have been attempting to transfer your files to without success. It is sometimes due to a malware infected PC.
How do I prevent my files from getting corrupted ?
  • Avoid forced-shutdowns i.e shutting down by holding down the power button.
  • Ensure to use the ‘safely remove’ or ‘eject’ option before disconnecting a USB device.
  • Avoid hibernating or sleeping your PC for too long
  • Run regular checks and maintenance on your storage devices
  • Have a strong and updated antivirus installed on your PC
  • Whenever you get an error while trying to run a file, ensure to troubleshoot
  • Be wary of the kinds of software you install ( PC optimizers, RAM boosters etc)
  • Allow files to finish cloying or downloading before using
How do i prevent my files from getting lost ?
The most reliable approach is to frequently backup your files to an external storage device ( SD Card, USB stick, external HDD etc) for easy retrieval in case of data loss. Also, avoid using SHIFT+DEL on your PC, use just DEL instead so that deleted files will be sent to the Recycle bin from which they can easily be restored.
Can corrupt files harm my device?
This would depend on the file in question. If the corrupted file is an important OS file, or a file corrupted by a virus then you might want to have the issue rectified asap because your PC is at risk. If however it is just some media file which got corrupted due to improper handling then its harmless to your PC, you only lose the file.
How can I recover corrupted files / lost files?
Data recovery comes in very handy when you find yourself in such a mess. Here are a few good methods:
How to fix a faulty storage drive using CHKDSK
The chkdsk command helps scan a drive for errors and fix if specified. To use chkdsk:
  • Connect the storage device to a safe PC and wait for it to be recognized
  • Open ‘My Computer’ and note the storage device’s drive letter (e.g I , G or H)
  • Press your windows button and search for cmd.exe
  • Right-click on it and run it as Administrator
  • If the storage drive letter is G, type chkdsk /f G: then press Enter (note the spaces)
How to recover files turned to shortcuts by the recycler virus
The recycler virus is responsible for those times when all your files get replaced by their shortcuts which would all be the same size alongside some other shortcuts like porn, sexy etc. To fix this:
  • Connect the storage device to a safe PC and wait for it to be recognized
  • Open ‘My Computer’ and note the storage device’s drive letter (e.g I , G or H)
  • Press your windows button and search for cmd.exe
  • Right-click on it and run it as Administrator
  • Type G: and press enter (where G is the drive letter from the second step above)
  • Type attrib -r -a -s -h /s /d and press enter (*Note: put a space between each item like -r space -a space -s ……)
  • Wait for the process to finish running then go to your storage device
  • All your files should have been returned.
  • Delete any folder called recycler
How to show hidden files and folders
It is possible that your files have been hidden from view either by another user or a malware. To show hidden files:
  • Tap the windows button or click the start button.
  • Search for Folder Options.
  • Click it when found.
  • Click the View tab.
  • Tick or check Show hidden files, folders and drives .
  • Click OK then Apply
How to search for a file using its extension
Its possible that the files are still on your computer but their locations have changed. You can search for a file using its extension (last 3 characters after the “.” in the file name). To do this:
  • Tap the windows button or click the start button.
  • Search for .avi for movies of type avi
  • A list of .avi movies will be shown to you
  • Click ‘See more’ to view all .avi files
  • You could search for .mp4 , .mp3 , .jpg , .3gp, .png etc
How to recover lost files using data recovery software
Data Recovery Software can help you recover lost files even after they have been deleted and the drive formatted. You can try Icare Data Recovery, Recuva or TestDisk .
How can I repair corrupted files?
There are a number of approaches you could apply to repair corrupt files. One valuable tool in repairing corrupt OS files is the SFC / SCANNNOW command. To run it:
  • Press the windows button or click the start menu.
  • Search for cmd.exe
  • Right-click on it and run as Administrator
  • Click Yes or enter your Admin password if prompted for it
  • Type SFC /SCANNOW (*Note: Ensure to leave a space between SFC and /)
  • Press Enter
  • Your files will then be scanned and repaired if necessary. It may take 10 or 20 minutes, depending on your system
Sometimes, files aren’t saved with the correct file extension after download or transfer. For example, a movie file (.avi) might have been saved as .txt. Changing the file extension of such a file could fix the issue. Also, File-repair is a good tool but if it can’t repair a file of your choice then it means you need a file-format specific repair tool. You can request for such a tool at the HOVATEK FORUM and ensure to state the file type you wish to repair.

Ladies: See The 5 Ways To Effectively Clean Your Vàgina After Sèx To Prevent Diseases

Cleaning your honeypot immediately after a pleasure session is very important for ladies to avoid Sexually Transmitted Infections and other sort of irritations.
When you think of the times that you feel the most relaxed and happy, the blissed-out buzz you get after an climax ranks right up there with a deep tissue massage. But what you choose to do while buzzed impacts your v*gina.
“When the v*ginal tissues have been lubricated, swollen, and rubbed against during intercourse, it changes how that tissue reacts to the environment.
Primarily, you run a much greater risk of infection,” says Kansas-based gynaecologist, Dr. Leslie Page
Here, we break down the stuff you should never, ever do after s*x if you want to keep your v**ina happy:
(1) Don’t forget to pee
During s*x, bacteria can get pushed into your bladder. “This can result in post-intercourse bladder infections,” says an obstetrics gynaecologist, Dr. Robert Wool, M.D.
“You can have some snuggle time, just empty your bladder within one hour of having s*x.”
Then, wipe from front to back to avoid spreading fecal matter from your anus to the v*gina.
“Due to swelling and micro-abrasions that can occur during s*xual intercourse, your vulva and vaginal skin are particularly tender and prone to infection,” says Page.
(2) Don’t use soap to wash your v*gina
Some women might feel the urge to wash the v*gina with soap after s*x, but that’s really unnecessary. Not only might you have an allergic reaction if your post-s*x skin reacts differently to the harsh chemicals in cleansers, but “using soap can lead to v*ginal irritation and dryness,” Wool says.
“The v*gina is a self-cleaning organ, and needs to be treated very, very gently — if you wouldn’t put it in your mouth, you shouldn’t put it in or around your v*gina,” Page says. If you want to take a post-s*x shower, use plain water to rinse off.
(3) Don’t sleep in your nylon underwear
Cotton lingerie is okay because it’s breathable, but nylon, rayon, or polyester undies are a no-no.
“After s*x, your skin tends to be warm and damp, thanks to perspiration, v*ginal secretions, and semen,” Page says.
“As such, synthetic underwear traps the moisture and you run the risk of a yeast infection,” Wool says. “The v*gina likes to breathe.” So, go unclad or stick to cotton pants after s*x.
(4) Don’t swim in a hot bath tub
Getting your bubbles on sounds like the perfect after-s*x activity, but it’s bad news.
“When your vulva swells in response to s*xual stimulation, it reveals the opening of the v*gina, which means you have a greater chance of infection,” Page says.
If you’re in a hot tub with your partner, that means you’re exposed to the bacteria on his skin and anus. Also, extensive water exposure reduces the efficiency of your skin’s antimicrobial barrier, she says.
(5) Don’t use flushable wet wipes
If you’re sensitive to chemicals like alcohol, glycerin, scents, and certain oils, using a flushable wet wipe after s*x can cause irritation, since you’re more susceptible to skin issues after s*x, says Page.
The signs include redness, swelling, itching, and tenderness. If you’re set on cleaning up with something other than toilet paper, try doing your own wipe with warm water and vinegar, says Page.
Mix one teaspoon of vinegar with a quart of water, pour some on to a wash cloth and wipe your vulva over the toilet, and then pat dry, she says.
“The vinegar is mildly cleansing and helps maintain the skin’s natural acidity,” says Page.
The bottom line: You have only one v*gina, treat it gently.

How to share multiple photos in one Instagram post

The drudgery of uploading one photo at a time to Instagram has ended! Now you can add up to 10 photos and videos at once.
Don't worry about overwhelming your followers with a slew of photos, though. It's kind of like a Story. A bulk upload is consolidated into one post. The first image is displayed in your feed and blue dots at the bottom of the photo lets your followers know that they can swipe to see more images.
Adding multiple images and videos is super easy:
  1. 1. From the home screen, hit the + icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. 2. Tap the first image you want to add.
  3. 3. Tap the Select multiple icon on the bottom right of the image.
  4. 4. Tap on the additional images you want to add and tap an image again to         deselect it. If you don't like the order of your images, tap and hold on the         image you want to move, then drag it to the right spot.
  5. 5. Tap Next at the top of the screen as usual to edit your photos. You have the     option of editing each photo individually, or adding the same filter to all your     images at once. If you want the same filter on all the images, just tap on           your chosen filter without selecting a photo. If you want to edit photos               individually, just tap on one, edit and tap Done. Rinse and repeat.
  6. 6. When you're done editing, tap Next and add a caption. Unfortunately, all of     your photos will just have one caption.
  7. 7. Tap Share when you're done.
On your profile grid, your followers will see an icon in the upper right side of a photo to let them know it is a post with multiple images. They just need to tap and swipe on the photo to see more.

How to Securely Dispose of an SSD

Solid State Drives (SSD) work a little differently than hard drive and no amount of drilling holes, degaussing, or zeroing out will actually properly secure the SSD. If you need to get rid of an SSD, you have a couple options, encrypt or shred. Here’s what you need to know.

If you’re curious about the technical reasons why traditional formatting or hard drive destruction isn’t the best way to securely erase data on SSDs, Backblaze has a great guide that details why old hard drive methods don’t work. The short version is that there is no standard method for securely deleting data from an SSD, and that means there’s no universally accepted secure format option for SSDs. Some manufacturers make their own software for formatting their own hard drives, but it’s tough to independently verify any of them.
Instead, Backblaze (and others) suggest two approaches, encrypt the SSD and throw away the key, or shred it. Shredding an SSD requires a special machine that most of us don’t have access to, so let’s just focus on the encryption method. This is good enough for most of us who aren’t working on top secret projects because without the encryption key, an encrypted SSD is basically just a drive full of random ones and zeroes.
If you’re getting rid of an SSD for whatever reason, the process is simple, encrypt it first, format it, and if you want to be super careful, encrypt it again.
This guide assumes you want to remove, destroy, and never again access data on your computer, so make sure everything is backed up because you will not get access to it again.

How to Encrypt an SSD on Windows

Windows has built-in encryption software called Bitlocker that’s very easy to set up, but it’s limited to Pro users. So, as a free and accessible option, we like VeraCrypt just as well.
  1. Download and install VeraCrypt.
  2. Launch VeraCrypt and select System > Encrypt System Partition/Drive.
  3. Choose Normal encryption when prompted then click Next.
  4. Select “Encrypt the whole drive.”
  5. Assuming you only have one operating system installed, select Single-boot and click next.
  6. For Encryption Options, you can leave this on the default setting: AES for encryption algorithm and SHA-256 for Hash Algorithm.
  7. Create a password. You will need to enter this one more time before the process is over, so write it down for now.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to move your mouse around, and click Next when it’s all done.
  9. When asked to create a Rescue Disk, click Next. This is a required recovery option that assumes you want to continue using this SSD.
  10. Select “1-pass” for the Wipe Mode and click Next.
  11. Finally, click Test to test everything out. Once your computer reboots, you’ll be asked for your password. Enter that, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the encryption process.
Once your done, you can toss out the encryption keys, making it nearly impossible for anyone to recover data from the SSD if they find.

How to Encrypt an SSD on Mac

You can easily encrypt your SSD on a Mac using the built-in encryption tool, FileVault:
  1. Open System Preferences and head to Security & Privacy > FileVault.
  2. Click the lock icon and enter your password.
  3. Click, “Turn on FileVault.”
  4. When prompted, choose the “Create a recovery key and do not use my iCloud Account” then press Continue. Normally, you’d make a special note of this recovery key so you can access it later. Since you’re destroying the SSD, it’s not an issue.
  5. Restart your computer when prompted.
Your Mac’s SSD is now encrypted.
You can now format the drive. If you want to be extra careful, after you format it, encrypt it again. This ensures the first encryption key is overwritten completely. Doing so won’t make a huge difference in the likelihood of someone accessing it, but it’s a little better for peace of mind.

11 Ways to Make Money While You Sleep

There is a proven sequence of steps you can follow to guarantee your success when you're starting a small business online, which are by doing the following:
  1. Find a need and fill it.
  2. Write copy that sells.
  3. Design and build an easy-to-use website.
  4. Use search engines to drive traffic to your site.
  5. Establish an expert reputation for yourself.
  6. Follow up with your customers and subscribers with email.
  7. Increase your income through back-end sales and upselling.
Anyone, from newbie to seasoned online entrepreneur, can benefit from this process in learning how to start a business online.

Step 1: Find a need and fill it.

Most people who are just starting out make the mistake of looking for a product first, and a market second.
To boost your chances of success, start with a market. The trick is to find a group of people who are searching for a solution to a problem, but not finding many results. The internet makes this kind of market research easy:
  • Visit online forums to see what questions people ask and what problems they're trying to solve.
  • Do keyword research to find keywords that a lot of people are searching, but for which not many sites are competing.
  • Check out your potential competitors by visiting their sites and taking note of what they're doing to fill the demand. Then you can use what you've learned and create a product for a market that already exists--and do it better than the competition.

Step 2: Write copy that sells.

There's a proven sales copy formula that takes visitors through the selling process from the moment they arrive to the moment they make a purchase:
  1. Arouse interest with a compelling headline.
  2. Describe the problem your product solves.
  3. Establish your credibility as a solver of this problem.
  4. Add testimonials from people who have used your product.
  5. Talk about the product and how it benefits the user.
  6. Make an offer.
  7. Make a strong guarantee.
  8. Create urgency.
  9. Ask for the sale.
Throughout your copy, you need to focus on how your product or service is uniquely able solve people's problems or make their lives better. Think like a customer and ask "What's in it for me?"

Step 3: Design and build your website.

Once you've got your market and product, and you've nailed down your selling process, now you're ready for your small-business web design. Remember to keep it simple. You have fewer than five seconds to grab someone's attention--otherwise they're gone, never to be seen again. Some important tips to keep in mind:
  • Choose one or two plain fonts on a white background.
  • Make your navigation clear and simple, and the same on every page.
  • Only use graphics, audio or video if they enhance your message.
  • Include an opt-in offer so you can collect e-mail addresses.
  • Make it easy to buy--no more than two clicks between potential customer and checkout.
  • Your website is your online storefront, so make it customer-friendly.

Step 4: Use search engines to drive targeted buyers to your site.

Pay-per-click advertising is the easiest way to get traffic to a brand-new site. It has two advantages over waiting for the traffic to come to you organically. First, PPC ads show up on the search pages immediately, and second, PPC ads allow you to test different keywords, as well as headlines, prices and selling approaches. Not only do you get immediate traffic, but you can also use PPC ads to discover your best, highest-converting keywords. Then you can distribute the keywords throughout your site in your copy and code, which will help your rankings in the organic search results.

Step 5: Establish an expert reputation for yourself.

People use the internet to find information. Provide that information for free to other sites, and you'll see more traffic and better search engine rankings. The secret is to always include a link to your site with each tidbit of information.
  • Give away free, expert content. Create articles, videos or any other content that people will find useful. Distribute that content through online article directories or social media sites.
  • Include "send to a friend" links on valuable content on your website.
  • Become an active expert in industry forums and social networking sites where your target market hangs out.
You'll reach new readers. But even better, every site that posts your content will link back to yours. Search engines love links from relevant sites and will reward you in the rankings.

Step 6: Use the power of email marketing to turn visitors into buyers.

When you build an opt-in list, you're creating one of the most valuable assets of your online business. Your customers and subscribers have given you permission to send them email. That means:
  • You're giving them something they've asked for.
  • You're developing lifetime relationships with them.
  • The response is 100 percent measurable.
  • Email marketing is cheaper and more effective than print, TV or radio because it's highly targeted.
Anyone who visits your site and opts in to your list is a very hot lead. And there's no better tool than email for following up with those leads.
Step 7: Increase your income through back-end sales and upselling.
One of the most important internet marketing strategies is to develop every customer's lifetime value. At least 36 percent of people who have purchased from you once will buy from you again if you follow up with them. Closing that first sale is by far the most difficult part--not to mention the most expensive. So use back-end selling and upselling to get them to buy again:
  • Offer products that complement their original purchase.
  • Send out electronic loyalty coupons they can redeem on their next visit.
  • Offer related products on your "Thank You" page after they purchase.
Reward your customers for their loyalty and they'll become even more loyal. The internet changes so fast that one year online equals about five years in the real world. But the principles of how to start and grow a successful online business haven't changed at all. If you're just starting a small business online, stick to this sequence. If you've been online awhile, do a quick review and see if there's a step you're neglecting, or never got around to doing in the first place. You can't go wrong with the basics.
