How Touch Screen Works And What Are Its Types? (infographics)

touch screen
An infographic shows the working of a touchscreen. The beautiful graphic illustration also describes the types of touch screens currently used in most of the devices like smartphones, tablets, televisions, etc.
Touchscreen is a user input device implemented in various electronic devices ranging from smartphones, tablets, televisions, computers to digital control screens installed car dashboards. This type of input device requires physical contact between its touch sensitive part and the hand of the user, more precisely, the fingers. However, touchscreen even works if you try to use it with your foot or nose. They just require the contact of a human body part.
Touch screens are of two types:
Resistive – Touch is detected by pressure applied to the screen by a finger or stylus.
Capacitive – Touch is detected by the charge present in our finger. A special type of stylus is required for such screens.
Other types of touch screens also exist but the capacitive and resistive are the most popular type. Even the resistive type touch screens are becoming obsolete with time and they are inferior to the capacitive type.
Here’s an awesome infographic by How Stuff Works which will take you into the world touch screens:

  1. I like the information you have provided in your blog. You have explained how touch screen works and provided the types of touchscreen. Best infographics here too! Illustrated in the infographic are the parts and how both technology works. Aside from that, you have discussed a well explained touchscreen technology information. Touchscreen is a very popular technology we use in various electronic devices. This includes our smartphone, tablets, televisions, computers and other devices. Resistive touchscreen has 2 layers that coated with electrical resistive. We can use stylus or fingertips to operate the screen when we touched it. The first layer will contact the second layer and it will give you the output in screen afterwards. Meanwhile, the capacitive touchscreen technology has layers coated with conductive material. This conductive material stores an electric charge produced by human body. With it, our finger tips can operate the screen. If you touch the screen, it will create capacitor then it will change to electrostatic field. Based on my knowledge, the capacitive touchscreen is more expensive than resistive. But, it is more accurate with high definitions screen. Anyway, your blog is worth sharing.
