Who Is A Hacker? Mark Zuckerberg Explains In His Letter From The Past

The term ‘hacker’ has always been viewed in a negative context among the general public. The contribution of the media can’t be denied in portraying a hacker as a person who does evil things. Recently, I came across the Founder’s Letter, 2012 which Mark Zuckerberg shared on his timeline. 2012 was the year when Facebook went public.
Zuckerberg also acknowledges the fact that the term hacker has an “unfairly negative connotation” from being tagged as a person who trespasses into people’s machines.
“In reality, hacking just means building something quickly or testing the boundaries of what can be done,” Zuckerberg said.
“Like most things, it can be used for good or bad, but the vast majority of hackers I’ve met tend to be idealistic people who want to have a positive impact on the world.”
The understanding of the word ‘hacker’ has changed from being an isolated guy — sitting on a computer, sneaking into people’s lives or stealing confidential data — to the one trying to get things done quickly and efficiently.
According to Zuckerberg, hacking is an “inherently hands-on and active discipline.” Hackers will first build a prototype of an idea to see if it works rather than figuring out its success possibilities. They focus on chunks, working on smaller iterations. Eventually, product or service becomes better over time. And to do that, Facebook has a testing framework where thousands of Facebook versions can be checked at a given time.
Another hacker trait is an “extremely open and meritocratic” mindset. The attention should be paid to the outcome, the idea, instead of the people who gave it. Facebook conducts hackathons to nourish this open thinking.
The different prototype ideas submitted during hackathons are collectively looked upon. Various popular products like the timeline, chat, videos, HipHop, etc. sprung out of such internal brainstorming events.
All of that said can be assumed as one positive picture of a hacker. As far as the negative versions are concerned, some people feel more comfortable calling them crackers. The hacker culture Zuckerberg believes has been in existence for the last few decades.
The hacker culture Zuckerberg believes has been in existence for a long time, largely been associated with computer programming. We can smell the existence of the hacker culture since the 1960s when a series of practical jokes happened at MIT.

People calling themselves hackers try to demonstrate their intellectual capabilities through their activities having some hack value. And it includes doing what other people think is impossible.
As far as the definition is concerned, the Jargon File documents it as “A person who enjoys exploring the details of programmable systems and stretching their capabilities, as opposed to most users, who prefer to learn only the minimum necessary.”
Also known as the hacker’s dictionary, the jargon file can’t be thought of as some official glossary for tech terms but has had its own level of influence since it came into existence.

How Healthy S3X Life Increases Productivity At Work

A good sex life could increase productivity and joy in the workplace, according to a new study.
The study carried out at Oregon State University’s College of Business says that maintaining a healthy sex life will help employees stay happy and engaged in their work.
To arrive at its conclusion, the study observed 159 married employees daily for two weeks.
Those who had sex were found to be in a better mood at work the next day, which led to higher levels of work engagement and job satisfaction.
“We make jokes about people having a ‘spring in their step,’ but it turns out this is actually a real thing and we should pay attention to it,” said study author Keith Leavitt, an associate professor at Oregon State University’s College of Business.
“Maintaining a healthy relationship that includes a healthy sex life will help employees stay happy and engaged in their work, which benefits the employees and the organizations they work for,” he said in a university news release.
According to the study, work-related stress adversely affects employees’ sex lives.
“This is a reminder that sex has social, emotional and physiological benefits, and it’s important to make it a priority. Just make time for it,” Leavitt said.
He noted that sex triggers the release of hormones involved in feelings of reward, social bonding and attachment.
“Technology offers a temptation to stay plugged in, but it’s probably better to unplug if you can. And employers should encourage their employees to completely disengage from work after hours,” Leavitt added.

Chimamanda Adichie Says Trans-women Are Not Women, And It Is Causing Controversy (Watch Video)

In an interview with Channel 4,award winning writter, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie said that it is difficult to equate the experience of trans-women with that of women.
According to Chimamanda, this is because a man who switched gender after being accorded the privileges the world grants to men, cannot be said to have the same experience as that of a woman who has lived without those privileges.
“It’s about our experiences. It’s not about how we wear our hair, it’s not about having a penis or a vagina, it’s about the way the world treats us,” Chimamanda said, referring to “the whole problem of gender in the world”.
Her statement is correctly getting mixed reactions..read and watch video below;

Wicked World! Woman Drugs Her 9 Year Old Daughter Then Sets Her Body On Fire

A mother is the one person her children should feel very safe with but this mother, rather than protect her child, did the exact opposite.
Laura Coward drugged her 9-year-old daughter, Amber Lucius, with sleeping pills then when she thought the girl was dead, she put her in the family’s truck and set it on fire.
No one was aware of the crime until Amber was reported missing in August 2014. Her mother became a prime suspect and was arrested two days later in Alberta, Canada.
Last month, Laura pleaded guilty to second-degree murder of her daughter while in a Calgary courtroom. The judge labelled Laura’s act the  ‘ultimate senseless betrayal’. She has been sentenced to live in prison with no chance of parole for 18 years.
At her sentencing hearing last week, Laura begged her daughter’s father and her family and friends for forgiveness.

‘President Buhari Has Anaemia’- A Professor Of Medicine Confirms!

A medical expert, Professor Femi Williams, categorically said yesterday that President Muhammadu Buhari, was anaemic.
This, the certified physician in Anatomic Pathology from London and Ireland, told The Nation in an interview, could only have been responsible for the blood transfusion which the president got during his medical vacation in the United Kingdom.
Buhari admitted on his return home on Friday that he had transfusion in London.
“We now have a pretty good idea of diagnosis, which is now comprehensive or good enough to say that the diagnosis of President Buhari’s illness is anaemia,” Williams said.
“You cannot be transfused if you don’t have anaemia,” he explained.
He had, in a previous diagnosis based on the president’s photograph published in the newspapers, ruled out anaemia.
He also said that the anaemia could have been triggered by self –medication.

I Wanted To Marry A Beautiful Princess But I Was The Least Qualified Suitor – RCCG’s Pastor Adeboye

Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, worldwide, has revealed in a new book how he married his wife despite being poor and having nothing but his “brain” and “foot wagon”.
In the book, Adeboye tells the story of his amazing transformation from debilitating poverty into a powerful man of God.
Entitled Stories of Pastor E. A. Adeboye, the man fondly called Daddy GO shares his stories through testimonies compiled by seasoned author and journalist, Bisi Daniels.
The 350-page book, a collection of testimonies emanating from his sermons, was released last week to mark his 75th birthday.
THE PROMISE OF REDEMPTION CAMP
Adeboye said that at some point in the early days, he was worried about the growth and expansion of his ministry, but God assured him of His support.
God promised to build him a city which is now the world-famous Redemption Camp.
“God’s response to me was, ‘Son, don’t ask for house because I have decided to build you a city’,’’ he said.
“That response was beyond what I could comprehend. After this encounter, I began to dream of a city where everybody would be a Christian; a city where there would be no molestation; a city where there would be no power failure or water shortages. God began to stretch my mind to see a city where His praises would fill every mouth.”
The church now has over 32,000 parishes in Nigeria, over 700 parishes in the United Kingdom, and many others spread across over 196 countries including Samoa, Fiji, Serbia, Pakistan, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates.
LEAST QUALIFIED SUITOR
When Adeboye wanted to marry his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, he had nothing, the author writes.
Adeboye said he was clearly the least qualified suitor among those seeking to marry his Mummy GO, as she’s fondly called.
“There were many of us contesting for the hand of my wife. I wanted to marry a beautiful princess but I was the least qualified among the many suitors.
“Out of the number, three of us were in the forefront. But I was a student, while one of us was a lawyer who owned a car. All I had was a “foot wagon” (move around on foot). I decided to let her know my financial status. I said to her, ‘Please listen. I have nothing, no money, no house, no influence, nothing’.
“I told her that if I had anything at all, it was the little brain God gave to me. ‘I have nothing to offer you except myself. If you will marry me, you will have me to yourself completely,’ I said.
“Surprisingly, she replied, ‘Because you are so honest, I will marry you‘.”
‘MOST IMPORTANT BOOK I’VE WRITTEN’
According to Daniels, the story of pastor Adeboye becomes a compelling read, when after breaking free from the vicious cycle of poverty in his family to become a lecturer at the university and living in a palatial home, he abandoned all that to live in a one-bedroom apartment in Mushin, Lagos, as general overseer of RCCG.
Daniels said he feels privileged and honoured “to work on this great book of a very great man of God; a rare person of our times, who so many people around the world are grateful to be alive to see at work for God”.
“I have written many books but this is the most important and most impactful of them all, with the promise to touch lives of many people around the world.
“Sometimes I get the sense that I was specifically prepared by the circumstances of my life in the last nine years to write this particular book,” he noted.
Daniels was the business editor of The Guardian and ThisDay between 1993 and 1996 before spending 12 years in the oil industry with Elf Petroleum Nigeria Limited and Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria.
Until recently, he was the chairman of the editorial board of ThisDay and was also the executive editor, business desk.
Daniels has written over 20 books.
‘ADEBOYE’S STORIES ARE MIRACLES’
The foreword of the book was written by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who said the life stories of Adeboye are “indeed miracles”.
“Most of Daddy’s ‘stories’ are indeed miracles, used to illustrate his sermons and show the power of God, rather than his own achievements.
“Having been a member of the church for many years and now a pastor, I have seen the efficacy of this style of preaching.
“Testimonies not only enhance the faith of others but also honour God. This book of some of the testimonies of one of the greatest servants of God in this generation is worth reading and learning from,” Osinbajo wrote.

This story was told by Facebook user Uju Patricia. According to the story, operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos state police command, arrested a 47-year-old Pastor Ikemefuna Aje.
Pastor Aje confessed to stealing during a seminar organised for internet brand managers at a hotel in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
The nefarious deed was however given away as he was caught on CCTV committing the crime. He stole 5 MacBooks, one HP computer and some assorted personal effects, which he immediately took down to Computer Village in Lagos, and sold to one Saliu Ibraheem for N1, 110, 000.
He has been friends with Ibraheem for about 7 years. However, due to the quick response of the policemen, Pastor Ikemefuna was traced to No 5 Tony Street, Ejigbo, Lagos where he was hosting about 34 other church members in an house-fellowship.
Ikemefuna stole those gadgets when the seminar’s participants were having lunch in the hotel. He also revealed that the seminar was one of the many others where he had gate crashed.
Meanwhile, a pastor identified as Prophet Obi O. of Anchor of Restoration Church was stripped to his underwear in Asaba after he was caught in intercourse with a married woman.
According to reports, he was caught red handed. He was made to hold his church banner while being paraded around in his underpants around Owufuju street in Asaba.

Why Osinbajo Is Performing Well – Buhari Shares The Secret With Nigerians

President Buhari has hailed the performance of his Vice President Yemi Osinbajo while he was on a protracted medical vacation.
President Muhammadu Buhari said on Friday that the performance of Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo while he was away, was buoyed by his youthfulness and intellectual capacity.
The president, however, said of himself that he has age and military background going for him.
Mr. Buhari made these observations when he received political leaders in the State House shortly after he returned to Nigeria from medical vacation on Friday.
The president departed for London on January 19, in a trip that was initially announced as annual vacation but which later turned out to be an extended medical vacation.
The president handed over to Mr. Osinbajo, who has been acting president for the past 50 days. Mr. Osinbajo’s capacity had seen him swear in a new Chief Justice of Nigeria, sign seven bills into law, criss-cross the restive Niger-Delta to appease the oil-producing communities, amongst other critical national assignments.
The vice president’s pace of action was commended by several Nigerians, prompting many to suggest that he should continue playing the major roles in the government.
“Youth and intellect is squarely behind him,” Mr. Buhari said while commending the work done by Mr. Osinbajo. “Continue to do the work, Nigeria will continue whether we are here or not.”
Mr. Buhari said he has his age and experience but strongly encouraged the vice president to step up activities in critical sectors of the country.
“Age and purely military experience is behind me,” he said. “ And my single most important advice is for you to take education of everybody under you very seriously. We must do more on education.”
Mr. Osinbajo, in his response, acknowledged there were challenges but appreciated the trust his principal reposed in him, quipping that he found going around in borrowed robes most enchanting.
“I must say that it has been an interesting period going around the nation maybe in borrowed robes,” the acting president said. “I must say I had a very interesting and challenging time but above all, the president gave us the good support.”
A statement from the State House said Mr. Buhari will officially write to the National Assembly to notify senators of his intention to reassume his opposition as president.
A civic group, CISLAC, had earlier commended the president for asking Mr. Osinbajo to act as president while he recovered.
In a statement by Auwal Rafsanjani, its executive director, CISLAC said the president’s personal acknowledgement of his health crisis and delegation of presidential powers to his vice president were unprecedented.
“We consider this decision very patriotic, confirming the president as a statesman and leader who places national interest above personal interests and does not possess the sit-tight mentality typical of many leaders on the continent,” the group said.

Security Breach At White House

Security breach reported at White House as an intruder carrying a backpack entered the grounds and was arrested by U.S. Secret Service agents at an entrance near the president’s residence, CNN reported on Saturday morning, citing an unnamed source.
President Donald Trump, who was in the White House at the time, was not in any danger from the security breach, which occurred around midnight, the cable television network reported.
Reuters said the White House could not be reached immediately to confirm the report.

Fayose Showers President Buhari With Prayers After His Return

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has joined other Nigerians to thank God for bringing President Muhammadu Buhari back home safely.
The governor speaking in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, March 10, while signing a condolence registrar in honour of Military Governor of the defunct Western Region, General Adeyinka Adebayo, Fayose called for more prayers for the president.
He said: “What is important is that for the President to stay away for that long, anybody would feel concerned about it. So, we pray that may God give him the strength to do his job.
“He has a job to do, so we will continue to pray for him to be well to fix the economy and put food on our table. We cannot task a sick man on these challenges, we will continue to pray for him to be well and bring the Dollar back to N200 or less.
“We don’t have power over life and we have to continue to thank God that the President is alive strong and back. Anybody can be sick whether you are young or old. What is important is that God should give him the strength to be alive and do what we expect him to do for our country.
“I just leant that he said he would be going back in a few weeks’ time we have to keep our fingers crossed.
“There is no doubt that age is not on his side like every other person and there are many health challenges that come with ageing. What is best is that we continue to pray for him because the Holy books say we should pray for our leaders in authority.”
The governor said Ekiti would honour Adebayo because of the legacies he left behind.
President Buhari’s Aircraft landed at the Kaduna Air Force base at about 7:40am on Friday after spending over a month in the UK.

Trump Sacks 46 U.S. Attorneys

The Trump administration on Friday moved to sweep away most of the remaining vestiges of Obama administration prosecutors at the Justice Department, ordering 46 holdover United States attorneys to tender their resignations immediately — including Preet Bharara, the United States attorney in Manhattan.
The firings came as a surprise — especially for Mr. Bharara, who has a reputation for prosecuting public corruption cases.
In November, Mr. Bharara met with then President-elect Donald J. Trump at Trump Tower in Manhattan and told reporters afterward that both Mr. Trump and Jeff Sessions, who is now the attorney general, had asked him about staying on, which the prosecutor said he expected to do.
But on Friday, Mr. Bharara was among federal prosecutors who received a call from Dana Boente, the acting deputy attorney general, instructing him to resign, according to a person familiar with the matter.

NLC Accuses Federal Government Of Stalling N56,000 Minimum Wage (Details)

The Nigeria Labour Congress has accused the Federal Government of intentionally delaying the constitution of a tripartite committee expected to deliberate on the proposed N56, 000 minimum wage.
The President of the NLC, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, warned that Nigerian workers would not wait indefinitely for the government to constitute the crucial committee in view of the harsh economic situation in the country and its effect on workers.
Wabba made the comment while speaking at the opening session of the 4th National Gender Conference of the NLC in Abuja on Wednesday.
The organised labour had in April 2016 proposed a review of the minimum wage from N18,000 to N56, 000.

He said, “Comrades, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, as you must have heard, we have also submitted a request for an upward review of the national minimum wage, which was signed into law in 2011 by President Jonathan.
“Despite the fact that the minimum wage was due for renegotiation after five years, the current administration is dragging its feet in constituting a tripartite committee as it is the practice to negotiate a new minimum wage.
“Against the background of the harsh economic times and the impact on the working people, we cannot wait indefinitely for government to respond at its own time.
“Though, we have been told by the administration that the panel will be constituted, we enjoined the government to urgently sort out whatever is the constraint it is facing and act on the matter before we are forced to take actions that may be unpleasant.”
Wabba said most Nigerians, the working class and millions of the unemployed were facing a difficult time because of the recession and the increasing prices of goods and services.
He lamented that some state governors with misplaced priorities had refused to pay workers and pensioners’ salaries.
He said the organised labour would continue to engage state governments to ensure that the outstanding arrears of salaries and pension were paid.
The Chairperson of the NLC’s Women Commission, Mrs. Lucy Effiong, called for campaign against gender discrimination in the society. She observed that women were still facing gender discrimination in workplaces.
