How to Turn Your Website into a Conversion Generating Machine

Instead of only focusing on getting more traffic to your website, let’s talk about the really profitable side of converting that traffic like gangbusters.
This post will show you four of the seven strategies I use to turn an entire website into a lead magnet so you can grow your list and achieve greater revenue online.
I’ve prepared a checklist you can download at the end of the post with all seven strategies to guide you in making the right changes to your website.

Why Do Conversion Rates Matter?

The internet is quite literally the largest marketplace ever developed. People all the way from Asia to Europe are just one search query away from finding you and interacting with your brand.
The annoying part is that most of them will visit your website once and NEVER come back.
When you can collect their email address or get them to sign up for a free trial, it’s much more likely those people will eventually buy from you.
In a study published by Direct Marketing Association, email marketing has a 2500% return on investment and is 5x more likely to be seen than social media posts and messages.
In order to get random visitors to become a subscriber or customer through your website, you need to turn every page into an opportunity to convert.
This process goes way beyond just throwing a newsletter optin form on the side of your posts and pages (you should still do that though, they usually convert at between1-2%).
Without further ado, let’s get started.

1) Your Homepage Has Too Much Information

Most of the websites you stumble across when browsing the internet have homepages full of information. Some of it is useful, but most of it isn’t.
source shredder
This homepage leaves the visitor with too many options and no clear call to action.
Instead of giving a visitor all the information about you or your company on the front page, think about the single most important action you want them to take.
That may be a free trial likeShopify
Shopify
Creating a landing page to try out the service like Instapage
Instapage
Prompting them to download a free report like Joyce Akiko
Joyce Akiko
or asking them to sign up for your newsletter with an Ebook like I do on the homepage of The Experiment
The Exp Homepage
Key Take Away: Less is more

2) Your About Page Can Be Much Better

The About me page is the second most visited page on a website and most people drop the ball by forgetting to optimize it for conversions.
Yes, you’ll tell your visitor about yourself but you’ll alsoadd a cleverly placed call to action to subscribe or try out your product as well.
For example, this is what a random about me page looks like.
Mcarthy
This about me page tells the visitor about the site owner, why they created the website, some of the pain points they address, and what their goals are.
This produces an emotional connection with your visitor and is the perfect time to ask them to join your community in exchange for an optin “bribe”.
Unfortunately, this website missed the mark by not asking for the email address.
Let’s take a look at some websites that have figured out how to make the most of their about pages.
Social Triggers
He takes advantage of a lot of social proof on his page and at the end; there is a nice call to action.
Backlinko
Brian uses social proof here as well and at the same time, he uses power words like “exclusive”.
Ramit About Page
Ramit tells the story of how he started and at the same time lets you peak inside his accomplishments. At the end of the about me page, he has multiple calls to actions depending on what his visitors may be interested in.
Take the time to customize your about pages and see your conversion rates improve. (I’ve include some more information on about pages best practices in the checklist bonus at the end of this post).

3) Customize Your 404 Error Page

Nobody, I mean nobody likes to get the dreaded 404 error page. This is the worst thing that can happen from a user experience standpoint.
Your visitors get annoyed and click the back button on their browser and you lose a potential lifelong reader/customer.
generic error
The sad reality is that pages get moved around, changed, and just outright deleted. The average lifespan of a webpage is only about 100 days so it’s in your best interest to create a permanent solution to funnel all your visitors who miss the mark.
404 page best practices
  • Include a Search Bar for navigation
  • Link to your homepage and popular posts
  • Use simple language to explain the problem.
  • Let your users get in touch with you to explain what went wrong
  • Offer them a discount, the ability to join your email list, or to use your product
Keep in mind that Instead of letting your WordPress site generate the generic 404 error page for you, get one of the many free plugins to redirect to a custom error page.
If you have a Leadpages or Instapage account, create a custom page and import it into your WordPress installation in under twenty minutes.
Here are a few great 404 error pages

4) Funnel Your Visitors To The Highest Converting Pages On Your Site

Where do you want your visitors to go right after they land on your site?
Your most popular posts or a sales page?
Wrong!
You should be sending your visitors to the highest converting landing pages you have.
This strategy will pay you much more over time than anything else you can think of.
There are many ways to funnel your visitors to your highest converting pages.
A hello bar pop up

In your sidebar
Neil Patel
Links in posts to your highest converting pages (this is good SEO as well).
internal linking
Funneling visitors is not as difficult as you may think. All you need to do is present them with a specific offer multiple times. It’s a form of on-site retargeting that can help you immensely (more about that in the about section)

Conclusion

There you have it, four simple, but insanely effective strategies to turn your website into a lead generating machine.
In the Online world, your success is directly proportional to the amount of people on your mailing list.
Grow it as fast as possible by implementing the tips one by one or all at once and make sure you keep on testing different variations until you find the one that works best for you and your audience.

How to add all your Facebook contacts to your WhatsApp Messenger

Though I’ve noticed it for quite a long time and I just feel I should share it with you here to those who don’t already know this. Have you been spying on someone on Facebook? Or you’ve been looking for means to get their numbers but didn’t know how to ask them? The truth is they already have your own number.

This is why I don’t encourage adding your phone numbers to your Facebook profile. By now you are already aware that Facebook owns WhatsApp and they are working  to incorporate a lot of things into whatsApp. Very soon, you’ll see the like button on WhatsApp(if it can appear on BBM, WhatsApp is not an exemption) but wait till then.

Facebook automatically add all yourFacebook contacts to your whatsapp messenger without your knowledge as long as they have their numbers added to their facebook profile.

How Do I Check?
Just log in to your Facebook messenger from your device, and in few minutes, all the contacts with numbers will appear on your whatsApp plus those you’ve never spoken on Facebook before. Even that babe or that dude that has been forming add to get will also appear on your WhatsApp Messenger.

I know some of you will say this is chatting made easy, but to me it’s risky. To the guys, it’s an easy catch to get the babe but at the other end, it exposes your privacy, and scammers can easily get your contact forming as though they've known you before.

My one cent advice, take precautions.
If you still encounter any problem in the cause of adding the contacts, you can contact me

So I first of all subscribed for Glo 3GB for N1kon my device and then activated the Gloweekend plan of N500 for 3GB by dialing *777# and then follow the prompt...

The weekend plan was activated the moment I connected to the net.

Note
You cannot use the two plan at thesame time. What I did was to pulse my Blackberry subscription by changing my apn to glosecure. Immediate the plan was activated and the speed is completely out of this world.

Benefits of Using WordPress Over Blogger

In my last publication, I discussed some benefits of Using Blogger over WordPress, but this time, it will be the benefits of WordPress over Blogger. Blogger/Blogspot and WordPress are both great platform to blog, this article is created to address the advantages of using one over the other. By the end of this post, and considering the previous post (i.e. the benefits of Blogger over WordPress), you should be able to determine which blogging platform is suitable for you.

Some Benefits of Using WordPress Over Blogger

1.      Total Control over your blog

The number one benefit of  Blogger over WordPress is the amount of control you have over your blog.  You have the full control over self-hosted WordPress blog unlike Blogger. Blogger is owned by Google, your blog can be deleted without any prior notice. The issue of deletion of account has cause many bloggers to leave Blogger for WordPress.

2.      Plugins

WordPress is blessed with features like plugin. WordPress plugins allow you to customize your blog to suit your needs with just a few mouse clicks. To include features like Related Post, Social Widgets and many more on Blogger, its time consuming as you would have to edit your theme HTML and get your hands dirty. WordPress makes your life easy using simple plugins for everything you need. By using plugins, you can achieve almost anything.  There are thousands of them, and you can access each of them right from your Dashboard. Although Blogger gadgets have some similarities to WordPress plugins, the functionality of gadgets is very limited and it is difficult to re-engineer the structure of a Blogger blog.

3.      Support

If you encounter any problem on your WordPress blog, you can easily go to WordPress support forum for solution. WordPress support forum contains many questions and solutions to major problems encountered on WordPress. You can also post question regarding the problem you had.

4.      Reselling Your Blog

Reselling of blog popularly known as blog flipping isn’t allowed on Blogger. Google doesn’t allow the reselling of Blogspot blogs, but you can sell your self-hosted WordPress at any cost.

5.      Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization in simple words means optimizing your blog for search engines and getting traffic from search engine. Since the aim of every blogger is to get traffic to their blog from search engines, WordPress offers more options to optimize your blog for search engine where as in Blogger you are limited to certain settings.

I’m sure there’s much more, but these are the things I’ve noticed with WordPress and Blogger. With the five benefits I’ve listed above, by now you should have conclude which Blogging platform is suitable for you between WordPress and Blogger. Blogger have its own benefits, likewise WordPress. If you know any other benefits of using WordPress over Blogger, don’t hesitate to share it via the comment section below.

Benefits of Using Blogger Over WordPress

When you came across the title of this post, you will be thinking if truly Blogger has any benefits over WordPress. But today, I’m going to shed light to some benefits of Blogger over WordPress. I mean the self-hosted WordPress not the WordPress.com blogging platform.

Before I start, I must let you understand that this post is not trying to say you shouldn’t use WordPress at all, I’m only trying to point out some benefits of using Blogger over WordPress as an experience user of both blogging platforms.

Some Benefits of Using Blogger Over WordPress

1.      Great Starting Platform for Newbies:

Blogger is a nice place to start for newbies. To me, Blogger is a starting platform. Most of the top blogs you see all around the web started their blogs from Blogger. If you are really committed to learning, you can build something great out of it. You can check My Awesome Blogger Widgets Page for some beautiful widget to make your Blogger blog look professional. With WordPress, you will Get your hands dirty, and host your website yourself, install plugins to extend your site’s functionality. Install custom themes. Build your own with PHP and CSS.

2.      100% Free

With Blogger, no monthly hosting fee is required. If you are planning to start a blog and you are short of cash, then Blogger is a nice option for you.

3.      Ad-Free

Unlike most free blogging platform, Blogger is ad-free. Blogger don’t display ads on your blog.

4.      You can Place Ads and Monetize it

Despite the fact that Blogger is free, you are free to display ads and monetize your blog.

With the four benefits of using Blogger over WordPress stated above, you should be able to deduce that Blogger as a blogging platform is also awesome.

In conclusion, WordPress too have its own benefits over Blogger. In my next publication I’ll explain WordPress benefits over Blogger. After my next publication, you will be able to know which outweighed which in benefits. You can also add your through the comment section below.

MS Word Alternative for Bloggers on Blogger/Blogspot

If you are a blogger blogging via Blogger/Blogspot platform, you’ll understand that using MS word to compose your blog post is not in any way beneficial. MS Word will include so many tags in the contents that would make your blog design and the post look shabby. However, bloggers blogging on WordPress don’t have problem with MS Word, they can copy and paste post directly from MS Word without losing format, and no useless tags included.

This post is mainly for bloggers using the Blogger/Blogspot platform. While I was still using Blogger, I was told to write my blog post directly into the blog software rather than into a word-processing software program, and this is not convenient in any way for me, so what I did then was write in MS Word and then paste it on notepad before I copied it back or paste it directly on the blog dashboard via the HTML mode instead of the compose mode. But the sad news is, all the formatting would be gone, then I have to start formatting the post again.

Later, I discovered a tool that that works like MS Word, but words composed on it can be pasted directly without including any shabby tags.

The name of the Word-processing software is OpenOffice Writer. OpenOffice Writer is a very useful word processor. You can download the program from HERE. OpenOffice Writer will save you time you use to correct your post formatting. Just compose your post on it and paste it directly on your blog.

Download, use the application and don’t forget to share your experience via the comments.

Top 9 Free Plagiarism Detection Tools for Bloggers

Plagiarism as it stands is “intellectual burglary”! Breaking into someone’s write-up and stealing away the sweat of his pen finding credits to the original owner too costly to pay. This ingratitude is becoming a vice some persons are grateful for as they transfer ownership of one’s work, parading fake shoulders of being responsible for a work that is not theirs as if they helped you with some recipes when you were cooking the write-up! Surely, if the early Israelites were all literates, Moses could have made a law against plagiarism the eleventh commandment, to tell how deep this “pen-crime” committed by most writers is!

Google has really helped us in knowing who really owns a work, helping writers establish copyright parentage over the write-up they give birth to, so that the plagiarizing writers who “clone” and reproduce write-ups could easily be identified. It is thus very advisable for every blogger to have a copyright page and post it on either footer or most conspicuous places on their websites. This prevents one from unduly copying your work as you could request Google or DMCA to delete that content from your websites, you can also press copyright infringement charges against them. So it is best to start working on producing a copyright page for your websites and blogs.

Why we use plagiarism checker websites?

Google always publishes recent updates to either punish or commend websites. If your websites is in possession of low quality contents or having links built with poor strategy, it automatically gets penalized by Google’s updates like the popular penguin and panda. If you boast rich quality contents, you will be rewarded with top results in SERP’s, it is as enjoyable as that!

Therefore, when someone steals your work, Google crawlers detect multiplied pages on their search results with repeated information. Even though if you are not guilty of copying others, your site could still get the chastising whip when others steal from you. To avoid dieing for someone else’s disease, you need to regularly surf Google search results if an accomplice is copying your contents or the other way round. Then you could resort to retaliatory actions (DMCA etc.) to wipe those contents from those criminal pages.

You don’t need to be a strict cop before you catch “arrest” copying you, plagiarism checker websites helps you with this policing duty. True, definitely you could also use Google (copy and pasting your own content) to indict someone plagiarizing your sweat, you should know it barely turns out well when you attempt searching voluminous number of web pages. Moreover, you wouldn’t really get the distinct internet address of copied contents when you don’t employ plagiarism checker websites.

How to Invite Contributors or Authors to your Blogger Blog

Are you planning to add contributor(s) to your Blogger blog, but want to restrain them to only making post or grant them full privilege? If yes, then this post if for you.
blogger logo
I recently created a post with over 40 tools to create a professional and SEO Blogger blogs. Before and after the post, so many bloggers seek for help to install a particular widget on their blogs, to add a tag to their blog templates and many other things. Most of them always have the problem of making me a contributor on their blogs, so they always send me their login details which I tell them it’s wrong. If you send your blog login details to the wrong person, it might cost you the whole of your blog.
To help those who don’t know how to invite others to contribute on their blogs, then you should strictly follow the two-step process I explained below.
  1. Adding someone to only contribute to your blog by posting contents and nothing more.
  2. Adding someone to have the admin privilege i.e. can do any thing.
The (1-2) above are the types of privileges you can grant others on your blog. Make sure you only grant (2) to trusted persons. Anybody that has the (2) privilege can even delete the owner of the blog.
Steps
  • Go to Blogger Dashboard
  • Click on your blog title
  • Navigate to Settings tab on the left side of your screen and then click on Basic blogger settings
  • Under permissions, click on +Add authors, enter the email address of the contributor(s) in the space provided and finally click on invite authors. blogger contribution permission
Once the invited Authors accept the invitation, they would be listed as Authors (1) under your blog in order to upgrade them to Admin (2), go back to the permission page and click select the admin option.

Stop Content Thieves: How to Disable Highlight on Blog (WordPress & Blogger)

Stop-Scrapers-from-Stealing-Your-Blog-Content

Bloggers that write original contents on their blogs are fond of complaining about some other ‘lazy’ bloggers stealing their works.

‘Lazy bloggers’ just copy and paste other peoples’ work without credit.
In past time, I have been using some piece of JavaScript code on my blog to curb content stealers from stealing my contents, but it doesn’t work. They use the other way round i.e. they turn-off their browser JavaScript and then copy the contents easily.
In 2012, I discovered a simple CSS code and placed it on my site. This CSS code will not give room to highlight contents on a blog, since content stealers highlight before they can copy.  From the time I implemented this code on my blog, the numbers of my contents stealer decreases, although some of them still copy from source code.
A reader of this blog contacted me some few-week ago to give him the code I used to disable highlighting of my blog contents. I shared the simple CSS code with him; he implemented it and gave me feedback that it was awesome. He said the JavaScript he formerly used doesn’t curb content stealers; it only increased his blog load time.
Today, I want to share the CSS code and the method of application on both WordPress and Blogger blogs.

How to Stop Others from Copying your Contents on WordPress

Like I mentioned earlier, no JavaScript will be used, so no increase load time on your blog.
Copy the code below if you want all the contents on your to be read only i.e. no room for copying any content from the content section.
.entry-content {-webkit-touch-callout: none; -khtml-user-select: none; -moz-user-select: -moz-none; -ms-user-select: none; user-select: none; text-align: justify;}
Like me, I shared code by block quoting. If I didn’t allow my readers to be able to copy the codes I shared, that makes the tutorial useless. If you also want your readers to be able to copy contents you block quote, then use the code below.
.entry-content {-webkit-touch-callout: none; -khtml-user-select: none; -moz-user-select: -moz-none; -ms-user-select: none; user-select: none; text-align: justify;}
blockquote {-webkit-touch-callout: text; -khtml-user-select: text; -moz-user-select: text; -ms-user-select: text; user-select: text;}

How to Apply the Code on WordPress

  1. Login to your wordpress dashboard >> Appearance >> Editor
  2. Select your theme style.css and add any of the codes above to it.

How to Stop Others from Copying your Contents on WordPress

If you are on blogger, login to your Blogger dashboard > Template > Edit HTML and use CTRL + F to search for:
tag. Copy and paste any of the codes below after the tag. To disable copying all your blog content use:

.post-body {-webkit-touch-callout: none; -khtml-user-select: none; -moz-user-select: -moz-none; -ms-user-select: none; user-select: none; text-align: justify;}
To disable copying all your blog content except contents in block quote, use:
.post-body {-webkit-touch-callout: none; -khtml-user-select: none; -moz-user-select: -moz-none; -ms-user-select: none; user-select: none; text-align: justify;}
blockquote {-webkit-touch-callout: text; -khtml-user-select: text; -moz-user-select: text; -ms-user-select: text; user-select: text;}

After applying any of these code, share your experience in the comment section below.

How to Publish Posts on WordPress Blog Directly from Microsoft Word

WordPress is one of the most popularly used, open source blogging tool and a content management system (CMS).
How to Publish to WordPress Blog Directly from Microsoft Word
The WordPress I’m talking about here is not the WordPress.com, but the WordPress.org that requires a web hosting service. One of the most common problems faced by newbies using WordPress is finding a correct word-processing tool. Although, WordPress has an inbuilt word processor, but it can’t check punctuation, grammar, and sentence coherence.
Bloggers that are conversant with Microsoft Word will understand the length at which the tool can work. For instance, I no longer need to write HTML codes when I want to make tables, unlike in the past. With Microsoft Word, I perfect everything and post it directly on my blog without any ado.
I’m currently using Microsoft Word 2010 on my PC. All screenshot and steps are based on MS word 10. However, a friend of mine that uses MS Word 2013 told me this method also works for him. Meaning that, this tutorial will work on MS Word 10 and 13.

Steps to Publish Post from Microsoft Word to WordPress

  1. Open MS word,  and click on file post-from-ms-word-to-wordpress-1
  2. Click on new, and then click on Blog Post post-from-ms-word-to-wordpress-2
  3. Since this is your first time of using this, you would be required to register, so click on Register now post-from-ms-word-to-wordpress-3
  4. Now select the blogging platform you choose to post on i.e. WordPress, and the click next post-from-ms-word-to-wordpress-4
  5. Enter your blog address and login details where required and the click on ok post-from-ms-word-to-wordpress-5
  6. If your login credentials are correct, you would be shown a success message like what you are seeing below post-from-ms-word-to-wordpress-6
  7. Finally, create your post and then click on publish to post from your MS Word to WordPress. post-from-ms-word-to-wordpress-7
The tutorial is quite simple and explanatory with the screenshots that accompanies each step.
My friend use this method to post on his blog often in my presence, so I’m recommending it to you. If you run into any problem, don’t hesitate to use the comment section below.

Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist. You will be redirected to homepage shortly.

Customizing the Redirection Code

  • • You can change the message on the top (i.e. Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist. You will be redirected to homepage shortly) to anything you like
  • • The 5000 in the code represents delay in milliseconds. You can change the 5000 to any value. Changing the value to zero simply means your 404 error page will be redirected to your homepage or any desired page without any delay.
  • • If you are willing to redirect your blog 404 error page to another page other than your home page, just replace pathname to href and / to the url of the page.
